When I read Psalms chapter 27, I knew this would be my
prayer for life, and if ever out of balance or loss for direction, it
would be my default scripture to reset everything back to its
proper place. Not knowing how life in Christ would turn for me,
and knowing that many fall by the wayside or go in another
direction altogether, I made up my mind that Psalms 27:4 was
what I would hold on to and seek for with confidence. I had the
assurance of His Word, that as long as I remained in His hand,
that He would allow no one to take me out of it (John 10:28), and
that I could continue to grow in grace and in the knowledge of
Him (II Peter 3:18).
For it’s only when we move or run out from under the security
of God’s hand that problems become more severe. As in the
natural, spiritual growth is not always graceful and quick, but
can sometimes be slow, awkward and very painful. I liken it to
the growing pains of youth combined with natures seasonal
extremes. Without God’s strong arm and the guiding light of
His Word, one can be blown away and off course, lost in the
fog of uncertainty, frightened by the sights and sounds of tests
and trials, or freeze to death by the bitter coldness of lost love
in others and by distancing oneself from Him. Even in the
days of prosperity and blessings, there is always the danger of
forgetting the source of where it all comes from.
Many days I’ve had to rely on my default scripture while
making adjustments for growth, and true to His Word, He kept
His promise with love and disciplined as needed with tender
mercy and grace.
Through it all, I’d rather be in the house with Him, than outside
and without Him.

and heard about it from the testimonies of others, how our
faith would be on trial from time to time. It was not meant to
frighten or discourage, but it was The Lord’s way of informing
me as to how valuable and important my soul is to Him. It was
vital for me to know and understand upfront as a new believer,
what strategies the adversary would use to try and eliminate or
redirect my love for God and thereby altering God’s purpose
for my life. Needless to say, it would not be a one day crash
course in spiritual survival, but rather a life-long learning
adventure. I know this is not just a challenge for me, but for all
believers in Christ.
