And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and
touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.
-- Mark 1 verse 41 (Kings James Bible)
Jesus understanding first hand the sufferings of others,
not only had a desire to help, but also had the power to
do so. His compassion extended well beyond their
conditions, which often carried severe social and
religious implications. He also considered the hardship
on the soul separated from God and wanted to restore
that too.
His compassion toward us is no different. He is willing to
make us clean and able to restore anew our relationship
with God, if we seek Him for it.
May His Word reassure your hope today.
Word of the Day ... Compassion
For further study and inspiration:
40. And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and
kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou
canst make me clean.
41. And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and
touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.
42. And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy
departed from him, and he was cleansed.
17. Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto
his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in
things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the
people.
18. For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able
to succour them that are tempted.
15. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with
the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as
we are, yet without sin.
16. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we
may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
