The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that
thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only,
and my servant shall be healed.
-- Matthew 8 verse 8 (Kings James Bible)
We grow from faith to faith. To get to this point, the
centurion had already seen and heard of the power in
Jesus’ spoken word. For just prior to this, His Word had
cleansed a man that had been full of leprosy. This
centurion was completely convinced that it was only His
Word and nothing else that was responsible for all the
transformations in others. The centurion’s faith was so
strongly rooted in Jesus speaking His Word, that he
believed Jesus did not need to be physically present to
heal his servant. Believing that on release of His Word,
its power would transcend time, space, and be as Jesus
had spoken. Therefore, it was.
And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way;
and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto
thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame
hour. -- Matthew 8 verse 13
Continual exposure to His Word and the study of its
affects helps us to cultivate a rich soil from which our
belief can take root and grow, from faith to faith,
receiving as believed.
May His Word take root and thrive in your spirit each day.
